As a result of a local government evaluation, Carismaperu has been given exclusive permission to work with this animal care project. We are delighted to be given this opportunity as we believe that animals need our attention, love and care.
Huancayo has a small zoo located 15 minutes by foot from our home. Here, many different kinds of animals from different parts of Peru are cared for by veterinarians and zoo staff.
The volunteers will:
- Observe, check and analyse the overall health and wellbeing of the zoo animals.
- Prescribe any necessary medicine, supplements or treatments, in coordination with the veterinarian
help to clean and feed the animals appropriately.
- Work with the therapeutic staff e.g. with anti-stress and de-stress therapy to keep the animals in full health.
This work program runs from Monday to Friday but any additional help volunteers would like to give at weekends would also be greatly appreciated.
This project offers volunteers such as pre-medical students, veterinary students and veterinarian doctors the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and skills in a very different environment. Other volunteers who wish to explore this professional area are also welcome to apply. |
