| Volunteers are able to work alongside doctors and nurses, attending to numerous types of patients or even some emergency cases, depending on the capability of each health centre and clinic in the rural areas of Huancayo. Volunteers also observe and participate in treatments and campaigns for disease prevention.
The medical centres are a 20-minute bus ride from the city center. The program coordinates volunteer placements depending on the volunteer’s goals and career aspirations. All of the staff at the medical centres are very accommodating and flexible, and they will do everything possible to make sure the volunteer’s work is appropriate and meaningful.

Typically, volunteers work from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
A working knowledge of Spanish is necessary; if you feel your Spanish abilities need improvement; daily lessons are available through Carismaperu according to your needs. |
